JOB DESCRIPTION
McDonald Sanders, a prestigious downtown law firm in Fort Worth, is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support our Litigation team. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. This role involves providing comprehensive administrative support to multiple attorneys, including case management, document preparation, and client communication.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Assist attorneys in all phases of litigation, from case inception through trial and post-trial proceedings.
- Maintain and organize case files, ensuring all documents are properly filed and easily accessible.
- Manage court calendars, including scheduling hearings, depositions, and deadlines.
- Coordinate with clients, witnesses, and experts to schedule meetings, depositions, and court appearances.
- Assist with preparing, proofread, and format pleadings, motions, briefs, and written discovery.
- Prepare trial binders, exhibits, and witness lists for court proceedings.
- File documents with state and federal courts, both electronically and in person, ensuring compliance with court rules and deadlines.
- Assist attorneys with preliminary legal research in case preparation.
- Manage attorney calendars, schedule appointments, and coordinate meetings.
- Handle and organize incoming and outgoing correspondence, including emails, faxes, and mail.
- Provide general administrative support, including photocopying, scanning, and filing.
- Serve as a point of contact for clients, providing updates on case status and responding to general inquiries in a timely manner.
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree or certification in paralegal studies is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a legal assistant, preferably in litigation.
- Familiarity with state and federal court procedures and electronic filing systems.
Skills:
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal research software.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage large volumes of documents and information.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
